Mountain Pepper Berries

$10.00 (incl. GST)

Mountain Pepper (Tasmannia lanceolate)  is a wonderful spice to add to your kitchen condiments. The berry has a delightful hot pepper/chilli flavor that lingers as an aftertaste – we call it botanical heat !

Grind the berries into any dish savoury or sweet for a flavour boost. We add it to ground lemon myrtle leaf, and ground saltbush and use as a rub or marinade for roasting meats and vegetables. Add it to vinegrettes and sauces, curries, cheeses and oils. Try adding some to your favourite chocolate recipe – a great combination.

Mountain Pepper berry is high in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. For example, the berry compared to blueberry has 2 times the antioxidants, 10 times the vitamin A, 3.7 times the calcium,3.6 times the magnesium and 3.9 times the iron. The berries are also highly antimicrobial and therefore could be beneficial to human health by assisting in keeping a healthy microbial balance in the human gut.
